As the intellectual and cultural center of the Carolina Sea Islands, The University of South Carolina Beaufort is working with local businesses, agencies and individuals to enrich the quality of life for area residents in numerous ways. The University offers a variety of annual lectures, performances, classes and gallery shows that are open to the general public.

Through grants and partnerships, it provides support and programs for K-12 schools and local service organizations.
The Philip A. Rhodes Barrier Research Facility on Pritchards Island connects educators and students with the ecology of the region and supports their efforts to study and preserve natural land and sea scapes as well as hundreds of loggerhead turtles each year.
USCB graduates connect to each other and the University through the new Alumni Association.
