Minors & Double Majors

The Department offers three different minors: an English Minor in Literature, an English Minor in Writing, and a Theater Minor.  The student seeking a minor must pass all courses completed for the minor with a grade of 'C' or better. Courses used to satisfy requirements for the minor may apply toward a student's general education requirements but cannot be applied toward the major. If a student elects more than one minor, these minors may not have any courses in common. Students must complete at least half of the minor's credits at USCB.

If you are interested in either of the English minors, please contact Dr. Kilgore. If you are interested in the Theater minor, please contact Dr. Pate

Double Majors

A double major can be an excellent way to distinguish yourself and give yourself an edge on the job market, but it takes careful planning to complete. Here are some possible plans of study:

Pre-Law

There is no single pre-law major, and law schools typically draw students from such majors as English, philosophy, history, business, and political science. English, however, has long been one of the most popular pre-law majors, and English majors have traditionally scored very well on the LSAT exam. See a possible plan of study for a B.A. in English that intentionally prepares you for law school:
