Having consulted with Beaufort County leadership, USCB will allow time to assure road and bridge safety and open the university for employees only on Thursday, September 14. Employees are asked to use good judgment in assessing the safety of travel prior to returning to campus on Thursday.

All online courses delivered by USCB or Palmetto College will resume Thursday, September 14.

USCB student housing will open at noon on Saturday, September 16. Food service will resume with brunch on Sunday for all residential students, even those not currently on the weekend meal plan.

Classes will resume Monday, September 18.

Due to Hurricane Irma, USCB will remain closed through Wednesday, September 13th. There is no date set for reopening. The decision to reopen will be based on the impacts of Hurricane Irma. USCB is continuing to monitor the storm, and Beaufort County is currently under a Hurricane and Tornado Watch. Due to Hurricane Irma, USCB will remain closed through Tuesday, September 12th. There is no date set for reopening. The decision to reopen will be based on the impacts of Hurricane Irma. Classes at the University of South Carolina Beaufort will close at 9:00 pm, Thursday evening, September 7 in anticipation of the impacts of Hurricane Irma.  Please watch the website campus alerts page for the date that classes will resume:  www.uscb.edu/campus_alerts.html

 USCB will remain open until noon Friday, September 8. 

All faculty, students and staff, along with their vehicles, must vacate both campuses by noon Friday, September 8.

  • Residential students providing their own transportation are asked to put their personal Hurricane Plan in action. 
  • Residential students evacuating with USCB to Aiken will depart Friday morning.  More details will follow from Housing staff concerning residential students needing assistance with temporary housing as a result of Hurricane Irma.

No faculty, staff or student is allowed to return to campus until the campus is officially re-opened.  The re-opening date will be announced on the USCB website at www.uscb.edu/campus_alerts.html

The USCB Hurricane Response Team is meeting at 9:00 am on Thursday, September 7.
Faculty, staff and students are asked to check www.uscb.edu/campus_alerts.html mid-morning Thursday for new information that will affect your personal hurricane response plan.
