Kelly Prestby, Master of Accountancy
Instructor, Accounting
One University Boulevard
Bluffton, SC 29909
In college, I majored in accounting, and minored in computer science and mathematics; I also played on our college golf team. Upon graduation, the early part of my career was in the corporate business world. I began as an Internal Auditor for a national corporation, then switched over into computer programming, helping develop a small business accounting software package. I moved back into the corporate accounting world as an Accounting Manager for a regional company. Eventually I started my own accounting business providing accounting and consulting services to small businesses. I have my CPA certification (inactive status).
I then pivoted into education. I earned my Master of Accountancy degree from Auburn University and began instructing. My background in audit, corporate accounting, and software programming provide a unique perspective on accounting. I try to bring my real world experiences into the classroom. Teaching is my passion, whether I’m helping accounting make sense to non-accountants or challenging future accountants to think broadly and deeply.
After raising a family and teaching at various schools in Minnesota, one very cold Minnesota winter day in 2018 I applied to teach at USCB, and my husband and I now live here. I am a Minnesotan at heart, and enjoy returning to visit, but love it here in the lowcountry. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy biking, hiking, and the beach. You may often find me listening to music at local restaurants on any given weekend.
