Soccer runners headshotsThe National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named 347 women's cross country student-athletes as 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. Among those named were USCB runners Lauren Tregoning and Ciara McMahon. The two were also named to the TSC All-Academic Team along with men's runner Carter Freeman.

"It is not surprising to me that these two would be honored with this recognition, “ says Coach Sarah Turrubiate. “They are hard working people who know how to lead others on the team and in the classroom. What impresses me most about Lauren and Ciara is that they constantly maintain a difficult class load and yet have the ability to perform at a high level in competition. We are fortunate to have them as part of our team."

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

"We are proud of these young women and what they have accomplished here," says Quin Monahan, director of athletics. "These two are great examples of what we strive to accomplish here at USCB: to develop champions and leaders."
