Events, USCB in the Media
Ten major events ranging from documentaries, a discussion and a candlelight vigil to remember the Orangeburg Massacre, to a formal dance and ball to recall Manhattan’s Harlem neighborhood in the 1920s, were presented in February to commemorate African-American History Month at USCB. Najmah Thomas, Ph.D., the faculty member for African-American studies, served as chair of the committee that organized this comprehensive series of educational, cultural and entertainment events, all of which were sponsored by South Carolina Humanities, a state program of the National Endowment of the Humanities.
