Dr. Jane T. Upshaw Earns Peggy May Inspiration Award

Former USCB Chancellor Jane T. Upshaw was honored with the Peggy May Inspiration Award March 2 at the annual Jewels and Jeans Fundraising Celebration at the Country Club of Hilton Head. The award was presented by the Foundation for Educational Excellence, a nonprofit organization and a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. The award is given annually to acknowledge and celebrate an individual who has impacted Beaufort County schools and whose accomplishments have distinguished the candidate in her chosen field. Upon retiring after devoting more than 30 years to USCB, Dr. Upshaw was named Distinguished Chancellor Emerita. As the founding chancellor of USCB, Dr. Upshaw saw the university through a period of unprecedented growth and institutional development.
