Human Services Student Karen Padilla named Newman Civic Fellow

Karen Padilla HeadshotThe Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes and supports community-committed students who are change-makers and public problem-solvers at Campus Compact-member institutions. Padilla demonstrated her leadership and deep commitment to positive community change through service as the Vice President of the Human Services Student Organization, her volunteer work with children through the Beaufort County Foster Parent Association, and in her current Human Services internship with the Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA), where she assists staff in presenting child abuse prevention workshops to elementary school children. As a college student and Newman Civic Fellow, Padilla provides a positive role model for public school children and the growing Hispanic population.
