Human Services Student Karen Padilla named Newman Civic Fellow
Student News
The Newman Civic Fellowship recognizes and supports community-committed students who
are change-makers and public problem-solvers at Campus Compact-member institutions.
Padilla demonstrated her leadership and deep commitment to positive community change
through service as the Vice President of the Human Services Student Organization,
her volunteer work with children through the Beaufort County Foster Parent Association,
and in her current Human Services internship with the Child Abuse Prevention Association
(CAPA), where she assists staff in presenting child abuse prevention workshops to
elementary school children. As a college student and Newman Civic Fellow, Padilla
provides a positive role model for public school children and the growing Hispanic
population.
