New Dining Open at USCB’s Beaufort Campus
On March 2, USCB, City of Beaufort and Chamber officials, 303 Associates and Aramark celebrated a ribbon cutting for the Newcastle Dining Hall! This new dining option on the Beaufort campus includes a cozy coffee shop and is open to USCB students, faculty, staff and the public.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Aramark to USCB this year as our food service provider. Students are enjoying using their meal plans at Newcastle Dining Hall. It’s great for our students who live right across the street and for those coming into town from our other campuses for classes,” said Martha Moriarty, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Interim Dean of USCB’s Beaufort Campus.
The new eatery is downstairs in the student center at 1211 Newcastle Street and steps away from the USCB residences on Boundary Street. 303 Associates built the student apartments in 2018 and leases the Newcastle Dining Hall building to USCB.
“We are committed to the growth of the University to carry out a vision of Beaufort as a place of opportunity for those who grow up here and those who choose it as their home,” said Dick Stewart, founder of 303 Associates and Board member of the University of South Carolina Beaufort Education Foundation.
Part of this vision involves co-mingling students with community members. Newcastle Dining Hall is open to USCB students, faculty, staff, Beaufort residents and visitors.
“This is a unique opportunity for us to serve the Beaufort community as a whole, in addition to the University,” said Aramark Director of Business Development Tristan Porter. “Newcastle will offer a variety of tastes through menu innovation inspired by Aramark’s culinary team. The Sand Shark Cafe retail coffee shop will also be an option for guests to enjoy.”
The Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting March 2, where city officials, USCB Education Foundation board members, Chamber members and others are invited to tour and taste at Newcastle Dining Hall.
