USCB Recruits Indian Computational Science Students
USCB’s Computer Science and Mathematics Department Chair Dr. Brian Canada visited several potential partner universities in India to recruit computational science students for USCB’s degree completion program. Through memoranda of understanding with international universities, USCB cultivates and strengthens opportunities for students to begin their undergraduate education in their home countries and then transfer to USCB to complete their degrees.
“I am here in India to join our international partnerships consultant, Ani Agnihotri, for visits to several Indian universities that are potentially interested in forging new relationships with USCB as well as schools with whom we have existing partnerships, such as the Vidyalankar School of Information Technology [in Mumbai],” Dr. Canada wrote in an email while in India.
Dr. Canada drove or flew to a different city each day of the week he spent in India, visiting 1-2 partnering institutions each day, from as far north as Lovely Professional University in Kapurthala, near the India-Pakistan border, to as far south as MIT World Peace University in the fast-growing city of Pune. During most stops, Dr. Canada spoke to groups of students representing a variety of majors closely related to USCB’s own academic programs. For example, the group from Vivekananda Global University, in the northern India city of Jaipur, included students majoring in Computing Applications, Computer Science & Engineering, International Business, and Hotel Management.
Since his return to USCB, Dr. Canada has been working to finalize articulation agreements with many of the schools he visited, with the hopes of enabling students to begin transferring to USCB as early as Fall 2023.
