Amiri Farris, MFA
Artist in Residence/Faculty
801 Carteret Street
I’m an interdisciplinary artist who expresses creativity through painting, drawing, video, performance, and installation. My work has been showcased in solo and group exhibitions at some of the most prestigious art institutions around the globe. Beyond the traditional gallery setting, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with various organizations and brands to create public artworks that are displayed in unique public spaces.
Inspired by my surroundings, my material choices result in dynamic and colorful pieces that resonate with vibrancy and life. My art is deeply personal, reflecting intimate examinations of subjects that hold significant meaning for me, such as diaspora, memory, perception, and Gullah Geechee culture.
By constantly pushing the boundaries in my field, I strive to innovate and inspire through my creations. In addition to my artistic endeavors, I am dedicated to teaching and mentoring emerging artists by sharing my knowledge and passion to help them develop their own voices in the art world.
