Donning of Kente Ceremony at USCB
Donning of the Kente (DOK) is an African-inspired rite of passage ceremony held at colleges and universities across the country (and around the world). It is designed to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of students who helped to enhance their campus community in terms of diversity and inclusion. The ceremony also aims to recognize and encourage students as they embark on the next phase of their journey. The first DOK ceremony at USCB was held in 2019, and the USCB African American Student Association (AASA) has sponsored a DOK ceremony each spring since then. This semester's ceremony will be held on the Bluffton campus, CC106, Friday, December 13, at 6pm - networking reception immediately following.
Seniors who register by November 25th will receive a complimentary 2024 Sankofa Edition Kente stole (authentic, handwoven in Ghana) to wear at graduation. You may register to participate in the DOK ceremony by completing this form.
