Donning of Kente Ceremony at USCB
Donning of the Kente (DOK) is an African-inspired rite of passage ceremony held at colleges and universities across the country (and around the world). It is designed to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of students who helped to enhance their campus community in terms of diversity and inclusion. The ceremony also aims to recognize and encourage students as they embark on the next phase of their journey. The first DOK ceremony at USCB was held in 2019, and the USCB African American Student Association (AASA) has sponsored a DOK ceremony each spring since then. This semester's ceremony will be held on the Bluffton campus, CC106, Monday, December 11, at 11:30 - networking brunch immediately following.
We are excited to offer this ceremony as USCB hosts its winter commencement exercises on campus in December! Seniors who register will receive a complimentary 2023 Sankofa Edition Kente stole (authentic, handwoven in Ghana).
