I have a PhD in Health and Human Performance from Auburn University. A former collegiate wrestler and coach, I served as Head of Health Sciences and Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University, where I created and directed the graduate program in sports medicine. I taught coaching certification programs for USA Track & Field, USA Weightlifting and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
I have served as science editor for three international fitness/sport magazines and have been published widely in the field of sport nutrition. I have been quoted as an expert in the New York Times, the Washington Post and the San Francisco Chronicle, and have appeared on ESPN, CBS Evening News and Inside Edition. At USCB, I teach sports science and sport nutrition courses for both the Department of Public Health and Human Services and the Department of Hospitality, Resort and Tourism Management.
