Classroom for CTL

Engaging with USCB's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL)

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the University of South Carolina Beaufort provides teaching support for faculty members. CTL’s mission is to help faculty reach their teaching goals, and, in so doing, to help students have the best possible opportunity to learn. We offer a variety of resources including (but not limited to) workshops, individual consultations, and feedback sessions. CTL creates an engaged community of faculty members who care deeply about their roles as teacher-scholars. In that community, we share ideas, help one other, and work together to meet the changing needs of our disciplines and our students. CTL provides faculty with access to current research and best practices in pedagogy. USCB faculty are skilled and inspiring educators, and CTL is the place where the “best of the best” continue to reach for excellence in the classroom.

Our services include:

  • One-on-one consultations and troubleshooting
  • Mid-semester feedback sessions (focus groups with students)
  • Observations
  • Workshops
  • Support for addressing shifts or changes in our classrooms (e.g. changes in our student population or updates in generative AI)
  • Teaching resources (email swofford@uscb.edu to access these resources)
  • Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs)
  • Support for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) projects
