Faculty & Staff

Student Development is asking the university community for assistance in identifying students experiencing serious difficulties, who may be potentially threatening to the safety and security of themselves or others and/or potentially threatening to their personal and academic success.

To assist you in determining the level of distress the student is experiencing, here is the Student in Distress Flowchart. Take a few moments to determine the level of the concern before proceeding.

Students can be referred to the 'Students of Concern' committee for further assessment and support services by filling out the Student of Concern Reporting Form.

Students

Students are welcome to self-report if they are experiencing issues that are negatively impacting their personal and academic success. They can also report other students for whom they have similar concerns. USCB is here to help you and your fellow students.

Examples of Threats to Safety, Well-being or Academic Performance

  • Self-isolating and/or exhibiting signs of depression or anxiety
  • Marked change in behaviors or academic performance
  • Threats of weapon on campus, significant disruption to community or potential for safety is compromised
  • Stopped attending class (other academic concerns please submit through Academic Alert Process)
  • Erratic behavior that disrupts normal proceedings of university students, faculty or staff
  • Experiencing difficulties as a result of COVID-19, including but not limited to: financial hardship, lack of internet and computer access, illness, caretaking of someone who is ill, instability in the home, etc.
